Deadhead is the empty miles you drive to reach a load's pickup. It costs you money even though you're not loaded, so we factor it into every profit figure — a high-paying load far from you can actually lose money once deadhead is counted, and we show you that honestly.

Rate per mile is the load's rate divided by its miles. We also show fuel-adjusted and deadhead-adjusted figures so you see what you'd actually clear, not just the headline number.

Fuel estimates use the national average on-highway diesel price (updated weekly from the U.S. Energy Information Administration) and an assumed 6.5 miles per gallon, applied to the load's miles. It's an estimate to help you gauge cost, clearly labeled as such.

When enough real bookings exist on a lane, we show the average rate carriers have actually booked it for, so you can see whether a load is above or below the going rate. Thin lanes without enough data honestly say so rather than showing a misleading average.

Best Matches ranks loads by how well they fit you — profitability against your target, deadhead distance, rate vs. market, and equipment fit — and surfaces the best ones first. Loads that would lose you money or require an unreasonable deadhead are left out of your matches, though you can still find them on the regular board.
